Why_Switching to Natural: What You Need to Know
Know the facts
The underarm area is one of the body’s entry and exit points. Conventional antiperspirants and deodorants typically contain a variety of chemicals and additives such as aluminum, phthalates, propylene glycol and parabens that temporarily block the pores and prevent the body from sweating. With consistent use, these chemicals have been linked to imbalance, irritation and disease. The science and research continues to evolve, but is it worth the risk when there is a great alternative out there?
Know that sweat is good
Sweating is important to the health of the body. It not only rids the system of toxins, but helps to regulate the body temperature, boost your mood and lower the risk of certain diseases.
Know it takes time
Don’t give up! When making the switch to natural, your body may need 2-4 weeks to adjust. When you discontinue use of chemical deodorant and allow your body to sweat, as it should, your body goes through the process of ridding itself of build up bacteria such as aluminum, paraben and toxins. During this “detox” phase, you may experience the following as your sweat glands open up and release toxins:
- Excessive sweating
- Irritation
- Excessive Odor
This is completely normal! Your body is simply going through the process of adjusting. Here are tome tips to help with the transition period:
- Cleanse the underarm twice a day
- Dry brush or massage the underarm area for increased circulation
- Drink lots of water!
- Get moving. Sweating helps speed up the process
- Avoid eating processed food
- Reapply The Healthy Deodorant as often as necessary
